Kern River Gas Transmission Company is proposing to construct and operate a new 28 mile, 36 inch diameter natural gas pipeline through Morgan, Davis, and Salt Lake Counties as part of their Apex Expansion project. The project expands part of an existing pipeline that extends from southwest Wyoming through Utah to Las Vegas. There will be community meetings held in the area to get public input on the proposed routes through Bountiful and North Salt Lake. For more information on this proposal and the public hearings, go to: http://www.kernrivergas.com/InternetPortal/Desktop.aspx
The Apex Expansion can be found in the pull down on the main menu bar at the top under “Expansion Projects” and the community meeting information is on the left side of the Apex Expansion page, or at http://www.kernrivergas.com/InternetPortal/Desktop.aspx.
How can a 28 mile pipeline reach from Wyoming to Nevada? “Kern” sounds kind of California ish. let them burn our coal! What are we charging for the right-of-way?
You are my representative, remember to decrease taxes. What’s with this new $20 bucks on Auto registration?
Good catch. I should’ve explained this better. An existing 1680 mile pipeline already runs from Wyoming to California. This is an expansion project of just 28 new miles running through Morgan, Davis, and Salt Lake Counties. It also includes several new compressor station in Beaver County and additional compression to several existing stations in Wyoming, Utah, and Nevada. The current capacity is 1.7 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas and the addition would allow for 266 million cubic feet per day of additional capacity. The impact on our counties and state will be discussed at the community meetings outlined on the website link above. I encourage people to attend.
I have not found any community meetings outlined on the website linked in the post. Could you provide a web address where those meetings are displayed?
The following link outlines the community meetings in Bountiful and North Salt Lake that will occur on March 24, 25, and 26: http://www.kernrivergas.com/InternetPortal/Desktop.aspx
The web developer in me is disappointed with the way their urls are masked – for those who want to go directly to the page about their community meetings the address is http://www.kernrivergas.com/InternetPortal/BackDesktop.aspx?TabID=146&TabParentID=142.
Thanks for sharing Becky.
